Caring volunteers pack birthday gifts for Almanos

There are so many special, unique things about B'ezri's Keren Almanos that make it a genuine source of support for almanos in need. 


Did you know...

-It's the only fund in Israel that provides a stipend to 900+ women every month of the year to help with expenses-the average stipend is $800!

-The women are given an extra month's stipend during the summer months, an especially difficult and expensive time

-Extra financial help is provided for the holidays

-Financial help can be provided for a child's wedding

-Additional funds can be allocated for an emergency expense

-The Keren Almanos staff has personal relationships with all the women in the fund, checking in with them throughout the year to see how they're doing, how their children are doing, how they're feeling, and find out if they need anything

-At her birthday, each woman in the Keren receives a thoughtful, special gift to brighten her day.
The gift changes annually and this year's is a Shabbos lamp with a storage drawer and clock - a practical, fun gift that brings a bit of happiness to each recipient.

      

"It means so much knowing that you remember me and are thinking of me-not only during the year but even on my birthday!" is probably the most common reaction the Keren Almanos receives in response to the gifts. Every month, between 70-90 of them are sent out to women throughout the country. Wrapping and readying them takes preparation and lots of time so when volunteers come by to lend a hand it really makes a difference. A hard working group of women recently paid a visit to our office to help out (a few of them appear in the picture at the top of this blog), and in a flash the packages were ready to go. It's thanks to volunteer help like this that we are able to get so much important work done (in all our programs) while saving time and money-just one of the aspects that makes us a super-effective Israeli charity with unbelievably low overhead.

We're so grateful for their assistance and hope they'll come back to help again soon.
After all, we'll be ready for the next round in just a few weeks!
