Winter-Wear Donations for Israeli Children
Losing a coat is not such an uncommon occurrence, especially for a kid. It happens all the time. Sometimes it gets left on a bus or in the park. Sometimes it's left somewhere in a school building. Other times it's at a friend's house and gets mixed in with that family's clothing. There are countless times and ways winter coats get lost, and it's annoying. But it's not usually that big a deal-coats are replaceable.
It turns into a big deal for families for whom replacing a winter coat (or multiple coats) is a real challenge. Families in need have a lot to think about throughout the year, but especially during the winter; for example how to pay the electric bill so there will be a bit of heat in the home, how to keep the kids warm at night and how to make sure they have some form of winter gear to wear during the day including...coats.
So when one gets lost, it's no simple matter. As parents sigh with exasperation, worry or just resignation, there's not much they can do. There are other issues that will inevitably take priority over replacing it and the child will resort to wearing a couple of shirts or sweaters until the weather changes again-not an ideal way to stay warm.
Yitzchak Dov F. wrote us a letter recently. He had lost his coat. He was also at a loss of what to do, how to replace it.
He got lucky though; the timing was perfect as right after that happened, his family was notified about Yad Eliezer's coat distribution through the
Winter Warmth campaign.
He was able to get a replacement and is now set for the rest of the season.
Dear Yad Eliezer,
I want to thank you so much for the warm coat I received from the chaluka (distribution).
It came at the perfect time! I lost my coat and even though I looked everywhere for it, I couldn't find it. It was so cold outside, I didn't know what to do or how to get another one.
Then someone told us about the coat distribution, and I couldn't believe it. Thank you very much!!
P.S. Please pass on my thanks to your kind donors!
Yitzchak Dov F.
These are the kinds of things our donors' contributions do.
