So here's a question: what do you think these quotes have in common?

"I mamash, mamash thank you. I'm starting to cry right now..."

"This is incredibly helpful! It gives me the ability to succeed in life and realize dreams that, without you, wouldn't be able to come true."

"It's no exaggeration - I have to tell you, this help is changing my life."

Ok, ok, admittedly, without knowing the context it's pretty hard to know what we received these comments for. They could be in response to help provided through any of the 15+ programs B'ezri runs as a charity for Israel. After all, we help struggling families in so many ways. So we'll give you a break. Here's another hint; we're post High Holidays now, so school is in session full steam ahead. Plus, here's a quote that will make it easier:

"I want to send a huge thank you for the support. You've relieved me from a large portion of my tuition. This is such a financially stressful time, especially since my schooling limits my ability to work full time. Your support simply gives me the ability to continue studying and moving forward, until I can successfully complete my degree. And I have the knowledge that after that, I'll be able to work and support myself and my family. This is my dream and it means the world to me."

Yes, you got it. These are some of the thanks that people have sent after receiving support through our Job Training program. It provides one time tuition grants to students who are on track to graduate and, due to special circumstances, are lacking a final payment that prevents them from completing their degree. Without a degree, they can't work. And unable to work, they can't earn an income that can help them break out (or avoid completely) the poverty cycle. They are men and women, married and single, and come from cities throughout Israel, in situations of all kinds.

Who are Job Training recipients?

Some are like Leah M. who is from a big family. Leah, for example, is one of ten. Her father is a cleaner and her mother is a factory worker. Leah noticed how difficult the situation has been for her parents, working long hours for little income, supporting her and her siblings with basics plus hefty school tuitions. Leah wanted to alleviate one of her parents’ worries and is trying to pay for her own school fees. She is working part time but her salary isn't substantial and she fell behind on her tuition, threatening her graduation.

Others are like Rut S. She's a single mother who rents a one room apartment for herself and her three children. She is struggling tremendously but is motivated to improve her situation. Rut is a talented seamstress and has her own machine, but needed help to get her skills up to the next level through a course. The cost was out of reach and she requested help from B'ezri so she could build her skills, get herself a steady income and provide better for her family.

And there are those like David D., who is married with a baby. He was learning in kollel for six years, and he noticed his debt began increasing dramatically. He found himself having a harder and harder time paying for daily expenses and his wife was undergoing fertility treatments that exacerbated their debt. David wanted to get a teaching degree so he could give his family a better quality of life and avoid sinking further into debt. He began studying but the cost of schooling was getting to be too much.

B'ezri has helped numerous Leahs, Ruts, Davids and many others like them throughout the years. Our Job Training program assisted over 145 determined students last year alone, in their mission to make a better life for themselves. Empowering families to lead stable lives by achieving financial independence is at the core of B'ezri's mission-something we are deeply committed to. And we can make it happen with donor support.

Together we help people earn diplomas that fulfill their dreams!
