American Friends of Yad Eliezer now partners with B'ezri
After almost a year, unfortunately the war in Israel rages on. And with time continuing to pass, the High Holidays are rapidly approaching. That's why American Friends of Yad Eliezer/B'ezri's IDF Holiday campaign is already underway.
Families of IDF soldiers have been trying their best to stay calm and stay functional during this difficult time. But needy IDF families have heightened concerns. In homes where soldiers often bring in extra earnings (due to part time jobs), the loss of supplemental income exacerbates their family's need. Absent miluim parents, soaring prices for food, other basics and special expenses (injuries, medical bills), plus disruptions in families' social service programs due to the war are among the challenges that contribute to the worsening of their circumstances.
Shulamit P. is one of the many people who've approached AFYE/B'ezri for help recently.
Her husband, a paramedic in the army, has been largely absent from home since October 7th. Due to the drastic reduction of his usual work hours, their income (already modest) has been impacted and with a new baby in the house, their expenses have increased significantly.
There are soldiers from single parent homes, with mothers or fathers struggling to buy groceries. Lone soldiers who come home to empty apartments. Hospitalized soldiers whose expenses at home are accumulating. The list goes on.
American Friends of Yad Eliezer/B'ezri is determined, as we are every year, to help as many as we can for the High Holidays, a time of year that is especially difficult.
Our program, increased this year, is reaching out to 3,030 soldiers in regular service plus another 1,200 in reserve units.
Thankfully a generous U.S. foundation has once again offered to match our funds-with $250,000 we raise, they will boost us to $500,000 in aid, to help us achieve our goal.
We all want to ensure our dedicated soldiers can bring in the new year with dignity. Please join us so we can get the job done!
