American Friends of Yad Eliezer now partners with B'ezri
As a leading Israeli charity that reaches out to help citizens from all walks of life who are burdened by poverty, Yad Eliezer is once again providing help for IDF soldiers in need. In addition to our biannual IDF Holiday Campaign, which distributes supermarket gift cards for Pesach and in time for the High Holidays to different categories of needy soldiers, funds are currently being allocated to hundreds of lone soldiers in honor of Chanukah. These recipients, generally, are those who've come to Israel by themselves and have no family support in the country.
But lone soldiers can also include native Israelis from broken homes, who have no connection with their families. Regardless of their varied backgrounds, they all have one thing in common: their struggle to make ends meet. Purchasing basic foods and paying for daily necessities (both during their time on base and especially when they come "home" to cold, empty apartments and refrigerators) are overwhelming challenges that make life extremely difficult for so many.
Support from Yad Eliezer for all soldiers we assist brings them tremendous relief. Ofir B. is an officer in the Jerusalem Border Police Force who received aid in time for Rosh HaShana this year. "The coupons really made a difference for me and my family. Everything has gotten so much harder lately and it's been really challenging to pay for groceries...especially for holidays. I must thank you for your help-it allowed me to buy food for our home and it lets us know that you appreciate us - that you are looking out for us."
Yad Eliezer's Chanukah distribution of hundreds of supermarket gift cards valued at 250 NIS each, will show these lone soldiers, too, that they are appreciated and we are looking out for them.
And, that they aren't entirely alone.
Join Yad Eliezer and bring light and warmth to someone in need, this Chanukah!
