Post Pesach Update 2016
Sunday, May 08, 2016
This Pesach we were able to distribute a whopping 10 million shekels in food vouchers to the neediest families in Israel! Special attention was given single parent families, families with very low per capita income, and demobilized soldiers who are struggling to establish themselves. The bulk of the distribution took the form of supermarket vouchers which allow the recipients to shop for their holiday needs with dignity. In addition, food boxes were distributed, and meat, matzah and wine were purchased at wholesale prices and distributed in low income communities. For some families struggling with particularly difficult circumstances, clothing vouchers were distributed enabling them to enjoy new clothing for the holidays instead of stained, worn or secondhand clothing.
Here is the breakdown:
3000 IDF soldiers received about 1,270,000₪
800 single parent families including tens of thousands of children received 3,000,000₪
17,000 families living below the poverty line received 8,000,000₪
85% of the money was received from thousands of donors like you and the remaining funds were received from government and foundation grants.
Thank you to all of our generous supporters for making this a truly happy holiday for tens of thousands of disadvantaged families in Israel.
